Members of the Kosovo Assembly’s committee on internal affairs, security and supervision of the Kosovo Security Force discussed today at the Media Centre in Cagllavica the transition of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into an army and called on the Serb youths to join it. Committee chair and MP from the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA), Haxhi Shala, said there are 300 requests from members of the Serb community seeking to become part of KSF. Deputy chair of the committee from Vetevendosje, Rexhep Selimi, said meanwhile that the Serbian List was not duly representing the interests of the Serb community and called on Kosovo Serbs to join the in Kosovo while member of the committee from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Fatmir Xhelili, called on Serb youths to visit KSF barracks and see from up-close how the force operates. The debate is part of Kosovo Assembly’s efforts to reach out to the Serb community and explain the recently-approved laws granting KSF additional powers.
