Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told BETA news agency “the dialogue with Kosovo” will continue when Pristina “accepts to acts in a civilized manner and in accordance with the rules.”
In a statement to reporters, Vucic added that “Serbia wants dialogue and is not blackmailing anyone with the possible opening of new (EU membership) negotiating chapters.”
“They can open as many chapters, or none, but we cannot participate in a dialogue with those who have violated the rules they had accepted themselves. We do not want to participate in this, but we want to believe that the European Union and others who care about the dialogue will influence those whom they helped in proclaiming independence,” Vucic said.
Speaking about Pristina’s efforts to make Kosovo a member of Interpol and Belgrade’s efforts to prevent them, Vucic said that this is difficult and almost an impossible mission, as even those countries that do not recognize Kosovo are under great pressure to at least abstain, in order to allow Kosovo to have more votes that support it.
“Will they be able to retain that advantage? We will fight so they don’t. Will we succeed? It is not easy. We invest everything we have in this. Both our money and our knowledge. We fight and that is what we can do. We don’t have powerful sponsors,” Vucic was quoted as saying.
As an example, he mentioned his trip to Paris on Sunday for the marking of the end of WW1, where he said he traveled with “two advisers and one security officer,” while “Pristina’s delegation counted between 50 and 60 people.”
