NATO’s position is very clear. The Alliance supports development of Kosovo Security Force in its current mandate. KSF is a professional force and source of regional stability. If the mandate changes, the North-Atlantic Council will reconsider NATO’s engagement in Kosovo,” KFOR Commander Salvatore Cuoci told RTK.
He added that it is very important for any change of KSF’s mandate to consult all communities in Kosovo and NATO allies.
Asked what NATO’s role would be in Kosovo after creation of the army, COM-KFOR reiterated that “in case of change of KSF’s mandate, the North-Atlantic Council will reconsider level of KFOR’s engagement in Kosovo.”
“This means that 29 NATO members would have to announce on NATO’s future scope of action in Kosovo,” Couci said.
