Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed great disappointment today over the failed bid to join INTERPOL and criticized what it called blackmailing approach by Serbian officials toward INTERPOL and some delegations of African countries. The Ministry said in a statement that members of the Serbian delegation tried to corrupt some representatives of INTERPOL member states. “Membership to INTERPOL was a process of meeting technical and professional criteria, which was positively assessed by the managing structure of INTERPOL, but Serbia and some of its allies politicized the process. The Republic of Kosovo thanks all countries that voted in favor of our membership and we will continue to further our cooperation with allied countries, the United States and the European Union,” the statement added.
