A peaceful one-hour protest will be held in Serbian communities in Kosovo, Mitrovica North, Gracanica and Strpce today at noon due to the introduction of a tax on Serbian goods, Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo Government, Dalibor Jevtic, told Tanjug last night.

The Mayor of North Mitrovica, Goran Rakic, told reporters after a closed part of the meetings with President Vucic that Serb representatives informed the president of Serbia and the state leadership that they could not be “silent observers” of the Pristina’s measures.

Rakic said that the protests will require the international community to force Pristina to withdraw the decision, otherwise, on Tuesday, the protest will continue in another form, reported KIM radio.

“We will not allow that children do not have basic food,” said Rakic, adding that the situation south of the Ibar is worse.

He said that there might be blockades of the roads and that protests will be held in the Health Center as well as in the Student Center in North Mitrovica.

“Pristina always sees our hand of reconciliation as our weakness and continues its course,” Rakic told reporters and added that the president of Serbia asked the Serb representative that the protests to be peaceful.

According to Rakic, the protests will be held in several locations with the support of the Clinical Center staff that has oxygen supplies for ten days, and with the support of staff at the Student Center, which has food supplies for seven days.
