The Appeals Court in Pristina ordered a second retrial for the owner of Kosovo’s Medicus clinic and his head anaesthetist, who were convicted in May of carrying out illegal transplant operations to sell kidneys.

The Court of Appeals in Pristina on Tuesday once again ordered a retrial for the Medicus clinic’s owner Lutfi Dervishi and head anaesthetist Sokol Hajdini, overturning the previous verdict that was handed down earlier this year convicting them of human trafficking and organized crime.

“The Appeals Court has approved the defence’s appeal and cancelled the first-instance judgment; the case is going for retrial,” Lutfi Dervishi’s lawyer, Besnik Berisha, told BIRN.
