Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met Ambassador of United States in Belgrade, Kyle Scott, Tanjug news agency reports.

The two officials discussed the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, and President Vucic urged US to use its political influence and warn Pristina that it is jeopardizing peace and stability in the region with its acts.

“Persistence of Pristina to keep taxes on the goods from central Serbia, and even more announcements on forming an army cause grave concern of Serbia for the future of Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” President Vucic said.

Ambassador Scott noted that taxes violate the CEFTA agreement and endanger future of the region. He recalled US State Secretary Mike Pompeo urged Pristina to rescind taxes on the goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Scott also added USA supports the efforts of Belgrade to normalize relations with Pristina and is ready to help in reaching a sustainable solution that would provide stability. At the same time, he thanked Serbia for its restrained reactions to the latest events.

President Vucic as well recalled provisions of the Brussels Agreement, UN SC Resolution 1244 and CEFTA, noting Serbia violated none of it.
