The Kosovo government is implying it will introduce additional reciprocity measures against Serbia. Although the measures have yet to be defined, they would follow the government’s decision on November 21 to introduce a 100-percent tax on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Government officials in Pristina said it is expected that reciprocity measures could include stopping Serbian vehicles from entering Kosovo’s territory with Serbian license plates, thus applying the same procedure that Serbian authorities have for Kosovo license plates. Another measure could be not to recognize Serbian documents about the quality of products and other documents, the same way that Serbia does not recognize Kosovo’s documents. Haki Shatri, economy advisor to Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, said a decision on additional measures has yet to be made, but that these measures have been discussed. “There is no plan to decide on these measures at the government meeting tomorrow, unless something extraordinary happens. This concerns three measures that are similar to the 100-percent tax, and they are related to non-recognition of documents, same as Serbia doesn’t recognize Kosovo documents. Another measure is to stop vehicles with Serbian license plates, as Serbia applies the same procedure for vehicles with Kosovo license plates. And another measure concerns the registration of foreign companies that supply Kosovo from Serbia,” Shatri said.
