Kosovo Security Force is expected to gain tomorrow the votes of the Assembly for expansion of its mandate. With the voting of the three draft-laws, it is expected for this force to start its journey towards the army, often described by officials as a force with NATO standards.

As randomly in the past, the army managed to unite positions of the government and opposition, except for the Serbian List. Avdullah Hoti, caucus of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) stated at a press conference on Wednesday that his political party will vote for the three KSF draft laws.

The two other opposition political parties, Vetevendosje and Social Democratic Party (PSD), hold the same position. Kosovo Assembly MP from the Vetevendosje Movement Ismail Kurteshi said that his political party has not change stance. “Of course, there is no discussion on this issue,” he said.

Shqipe Pantina from PSD said her political party voted the draft laws on their first reading and they will of course vote for them again. The only political party against the new army of Kosovo appears to be the Serbian List. Officials from this political party even expressed their concerns with regards to these actions of Kosovo institution to Belgrade.

With or without the Serbian List, the governing coalition, as announced for quite some time now, will vote the army.

KSF is expected to have in its future mandate eight thousand soldiers. From them, five thousand will be active troops, while three thousand reserve.
