In a statement regarding appointment of new Central Election Commission’s members, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) said President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci has delayed the process even though the legal timeframe for appointing new members is no later than 60 days after certification of election results which was done on 8 July 2018. “In order to further delay this process and preserve the current composition of the CEC which is favourable to the ruling coalition, President Thaci has referred the case to the Constitutional Court and which was evident in the Court’s rejection of the claim that was completely unreasonable and unnecessary,” LDK said in a statement. It added that the appointments at the CEC are clearly stipulated by the Constitution of Kosovo and that in this respect LDK is entitled to have not one but two members.
