Avdullah Hoti, head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group said they plan to address the Constitutional Court regarding the decision of President Hashim Thaci to appoint one LDK member to the Central Elections Commission (CEC). “LDK is entitled to two members at the CEC. Any other practice would constitute a constitutional violation and LDK will use all available mechanisms to achieve its rights,” Hoti said. “The Constitution and the law clearly specify how CEC members are appointed. Six members are from Albanian majority parliamentary groups at the Assembly of Kosovo. The Constitutional Court decision of 2014 has clarified that a parliamentary group is a party or coalition that ran in elections and won seats. In 2017 elections there were three parties or coalitions that represent the Albanian majority that won seats in the Assembly. Hence, LDK is entitled to two members,” Hoti argued.
