“I think that Washington will be more involved and it should be more involved on the solution of this issue and maybe the EU moves to a different role, because I think that the United States can help to encourage not only Serbia but also Kosovo to sit at the discussion table to resolve the years old issues,” Poe told Voice of America.
According to him, Kosovo was part of the problem due to the lack of readiness to find a compromise and a long-tern solution for peace in the region. He added that he is pleased that the U.S. are more engaged in Western Balkans and believes that Congress is doing more.
Poe retired this end of the year and from January his seat will be taken by a Republican Congressman from Ohio, Brigadier General Steve Stevens.
