The American Chamber organized today a round-table entitled “Women’s promotion in entrepreneurship and decision-making” where they discussed the challenges that women face, starting from low rate of employment, low salaries and a range of other challenges.

Atifiete Jahjaga, former President of Kosovo said the issue of empowering women is becoming more important and added that their role is important for economic development, stability and prosperity of Kosovo.

“Women were for a long time deprived from the human rights which enable them to lead a dignified life. The right on vote, participation in politics, property, access to financial income. We are witnesses of the improvement of the role of the woman in family and society. This progress that we see today did not happen by itself but thanks to the continuous war of our society. It happened thanks to the courageous women who broke gender stereotypes,” Jahjaga said.
