Jahjaga Foundation and Kosovo Chamber of Advocates have signed a cooperation agreement, which provides pro bono defense for survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo. Former Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga said that the victims are not alone anymore, as they have support of all of them.

“We are signing a memorandum of cooperation for providing free services to women raped during the recent war in Kosovo. In 2014, with the establishment of the National Council, the process of reintegration was initiated, their recognition became possible, and the path for their status verification started in February this year. We have worked on the institutional recognition to fight the stigma. It is true that we have achieved significant achievements, but we have not managed to offer them justice,” she said.

Head of the Kosovo Chamber of Advocates Osman Havolli said that this day is very important for them and added that they intend to involve more lawmakers to this process, who will undergo some training. He said the Chamber will identify the lawyers who will deal with these cases, protecting in this manner their identity.
