The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, declared the 2019 to be the NATO year in Kosovo.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the NATO humanitarian intervention on Kosovo, intervention which took place after the massacres, ethnic cleansing and crimes perpetrated by the Serbian forces upon the civilian population in Kosovo , and after the failure of the global diplomatic engagements in finding of a peaceful solution for Kosovo.
On March 24th, 1999, NATO Air Force commenced the bombing campaign against targets within the Serbian state, which lasted for 78 days and which halted the genocide and brought Kosovo its freedom.
People of Kosovo will remain eternally grateful to the NATO member states for their support,” notes a press release issued by the Office of the President.
