Lawyer Dejan A. Vasic confirmed to Radio kontakt plus that Kosovo lawyers, in accordance with the decision of Kosovo Bar Association are on strike as of today.
Vasic said that the reason for the boycott was the ban on entry for the lawyers, who are prohibited to enter into court buildings in Kosovo without a prior invitation.
The general boycott begins today and applies to all courts in Kosovo, the Prosecutor’s Office and Kosovo police. The boycott would continue until the order and recommendation on the prohibition of entry of lawyers into the court buildings without prior summons is not withdrawn by the Kosovo Judicial Council.
On 8 August 2018, Imer Hoxha, President of the Basic Court in Prizren, issued an order that did not allow lawyers to access the court without summons.
