Even after 40 days following the resignations of the mayors of four mainly-Serb inhabited northern municipalities, the Ministry of Local Government has yet to assess their decision, while the Government considers their resignations unacceptable. The paper recalls that the four mayor resigned on November 27 last year in sign of protest against the government’s decision to introduce a 100-percent tariff on products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The legal deadline to consider the resignations has now expired, but the Legal Office of the Ministry of Local Government has yet to make a decision. Regardless, the Kosovo government says that the resignations cannot be accepted because in their text the Serb mayors referred to the Republic of Kosovo as “Kosovo and Metohija”.
