The Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj said Nebojsa Jakovljevic’s detention by Serbian authorities in Merdare is yet another unacceptable and condemnable act.

He appealed at EU officials and the international community to make pressure on Belgrade to immediately stop such consecutive actions against Kosovo citizens, which clearly show the road which Serbia has chosen, against freedom of movement, European spirit of cooperation and joint values.

“Jakovljevic is adviser at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, part of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) and brother of the Obilic deputy mayor, whose family I have visited in December,” Haradinaj said.

The government of Kosovo harshly condemns this form of pressure and threat by Serbia for the citizens of the Kosovo Serb community.

This action is not the only one, and it is not isolated either, but it is part of an orchestrated campaign of the Serbian government, to directly threaten security of our country.

Kosovo is committed to dialogue, which enables reach of a final agreement with the neighboring country and each act that hinders this spirit is unacceptable,” Haradinaj wrote.
