Shpend Ahmeti, co-chair of the Kosovo’s negotiating team for dialogue with Serbia, said today after a meeting with Kosovo leaders, Assembly President Kadri Veseli and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, that they now have clearer objectives following the 8 January meeting in Brussels and that there is no more technical dialogue with Belgrade. “There is full agreement that for us there is no more technical dialogue. In today’s meeting we informed state leaders of the topics we will discuss,” Ahmeti said adding that the missing persons, property, displaced persons, communities, Serb Orthodox Church, return of Kosovo artifacts will be some of the topics that they plan to raise at the dialogue. He admitted however that dialogue with Serbia will not be easy and that there would be no taboo topics: “It is clear that we aim to reach agreement with Serbia that would result in Kosovo’s UN membership. It will not be an easy process but we will try to end a conflict that was not only armed but also diplomatic. We will listen to every idea offered to us and discuss with citizens.”
