One year after murder of leader of Civic Initiative, Freedom, Democracy, Justice (GI SDP) Oliver Ivanovic, his associates, family, and the public, are still denied the information regarding the investigation, and are without an answer to the question of who the perpetrators and those who ordered the killing are.
Ksenija Bozovic, Ivanovic’s long-time associate told Radio kontakt plus that the GI SDP will not cease to exert the pressure so that Ivanovic’s assassin is uncovered, because, as she pointed out, this must be revealed due to all of the events, but also for the future of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
In November last year, GI SDP sent an open letter to all international representatives in Kosovo, as well as to foreign embassies, asking them about what they did and what the institutions are doing about this case.
The only answer they have received was from EULEX about the meetings of Kosovo and Serbian police.
“We were told that, since they are a mediator between the authorities in Pristina and Belgrade, three meetings have been held so far and it was expected that the fourth one would be held in Belgrade, however, that meeting did not take place. Belgrade and Pristina have the information about these three meetings” Bozovic said.
GI SDP also sent an invitation to the international representatives and embassies in Kosovo to attend the marking of the anniversary of Ivanovic’s murder on January 16, with the aim, as Bozovic pointed out, to send a firm and clear message from the scene of his murder, that the institutions they have formed must do their job in accordance with the law and that the killer Oliver Ivanovic must be found.
Nebojsa Vlajic, one of the defence lawyers of Oliver Ivanovic during the trial that lasted for almost four years, told Radio kontakt plus that, considering the dynamics of the entire process, there was no room for optimism in the sense of solving the case of Ivanovic’s murder.
“What has happened until now vis-à-vis investigation, where great discoveries are constantly being announced, and then nothing is published, and this entire year that has passed in the mutual accusations between Belgrade and Pristina, does not speak in favour that one can be optimistic about. However, like all people, I also hope the killers will be uncovered and the public will find out what happened, why Oliver Ivanovic was killed and who did it,” Vlajic underlined.
