Daniel Onisor, head of the Romanian Liaison Office in Pristina, said at the presentation of the country’s priorities during its EU presidency that Kosovo and Serbia should avoid actions that hinder an agreement which he noted should be in line with European values which embody social harmony and respect of national minorities. “We want to underline that our approach during the presidency will be that of sincere mediation, regardless of the national position on the status of Kosovo,” Onisor said. He added that Romania supports dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and that it was important for the two sides and relevant political actors to refrain from any action that would undermine the prospects of an agreement. Romania is among five EU member states along with Slovakia, Cyprus, Spain and Greece that has not recognised independence of Kosovo.
