Shpend Ahmeti, co-head of the team for the dialogue with Serbia, said today that the negotiating team will soon submit the platform of the discussions with Serbia, to the Assembly.

He said during a press conference that they have received documentation from the Prime Minister and from the President. He further expressed conviction that the platform will be ready prior to 30 January. “That platform is based on the Constitution of Kosovo. This dialogue has one intention, to conclude the process between Kosovo and Serbia. If there is no recognition, then this dialogue does not have any meaning for us and it does not even deserve to waste time, because it is clear that Kosovo went through several waves of compromises,” Ahmeti said.

He also informed that the dialogue team has created six committees: on the missing persons, properties, cultural heritage, rights of minorities, war crimes and economy.

“I am very skeptical that there will be an agreement as the positions are too far from each other. It appears that Serbia expects more concessions, while we consider that we have made all concessions, and we think that Serbia needs to move on from Kosovo problem,” he said.

Speaking about Belgrade’s condition of removing tax tariffs in order to continue with the dialogue, Ahmeti expressed conviction that this will not happen.
