Representatives of 300 civil society organisations have protested before the Kosovo Assembly building against the law aiming to regulate the way non-governmental organisations function. Speaking on behalf of civil society, Taulant Hoxha from the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) called on MPs to prevent the “stealing” of NGOs’ capital and assets. “The law on NGOs approved by the Assembly on 7 November last year permits violation of the key element of civil society which is the NGOs’ assets to be used and shared with private businesses,” Hoxha said. He noted that the practice of NGOs funding private businesses is not applied in any of the EU member countries.
