Majority of actions that Pristina can conduct against Trepca-North have already been experienced. Director Jovan Dimkic thinks the goal is to economically destroy the model according to which “Trepca” operates. He does not expect, however, physical violence, RTS reports.
Legal expert Dr. Dusko Celic opined that the international arbitration can be a solution if the shareholders file a complaint. If it would be done by the state of Serbia, it could prejudge Kosovo’s status, Celic warned in an interview to Radio Belgrade.
In an interview to Radio Belgrade, Jovan Dimkic “Trepca North” Director said Trepca statute was adopted on a national basis, and that it was proposed by a board in which six out of nine members are Albanians.
“Serbs refused to take seats in that Board, because they would only be decoration and give legitimacy to over-voting and decision-making which they could not influence in any way,” Dimkic said. He pointed out they are ready for all possible scenarios but excluded possibility of physical violence. In his view, the latest developments are aimed to destroy the economic model under which Trepca North currently operates with success. He also added the adoption of this statute, could be more detrimental than introduction of 100 percent tariffs on products from central Serbia, as it affects the survival perspective of Serbian people in the area.
Professor at the Law Faculty in Mitrovica North, Dr Dusko Celic, opined that the adoption of Trepca statute serves multiple purposes and it primarily has political dimension.
He points out that in legal terms, the only paper that Pristina has is the Law on Trepca, under which they have confiscated the property. “If they had the paperwork, they would not use such a quasi-legal act. All legal arguments are on our side. This is about violence, we’ll see whether the Western world will agree to accept the unilateral decision of Pristin (…),” Celic said.
