Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and co-head of the negotiating team for dialogue with Serbia, Fatmir Limaj, said after meeting the officials from the U.S. National Security Council, John Erath and Brad Berkley, that he briefed them on the platform for talks with Serbia which he said he hoped would soon be endorsed by the Kosovo Assembly and will present the official position of Kosovo. “I also expressed our concern over the behaviour of the Serbian state towards Kosovo, the daily interference of Serbia in Kosovo and on Kosovo citizens,” Limaj wrote on Facebook. “We also mentioned the reasons that forced us take the decision on tax.”  He said the U.S. officials on their part reiterated the position of the U.S. on the need for the tax on Serbia and Bosnia to be suspended in order to give dialogue a chance “as well as the U.S. commitment to see an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia as soon as possible which would close once and for all the conflict between the two countries.” “I assured them that we are working hard to ensure Kosovo institutions have a unified position on this issue which would enable dialogue to start by taking into account the advice of our American friends,” Limaj said.
