Serbia’s Minister for Internal Affairs, Nebojsa Stefanovic has sent a letter to the INTERPOL Secretary General Jergen Stock and to the President Kim Jong Yang, requesting not to consider Kosovo’s request for membership.
He stressed that nothing has changed since the Dubai meeting in 2018 where Kosovo’s request did not gain sufficient number of votes to become a member.
“The only change from that period is that a major number of countries have withdrawn recognition of Kosovo,” Stefanovic wrote.
“Conditions to accept a member at INTERPOL are regulated by INTERPOL Constitution and Resolution for the new members, therefore membership is open only for countries. Return of this request in the agenda would politicize the work of the professional police organisation and would be in contradiction with the INTERPOL Constitution,” he stressed.
