In an interview with T7, UK’s ambassador to Kosovo Ruairi O’Connell said that Quint countries have the same objective with regards to the Kosovo-Serbia agreement. “We want the agreement to be implementable, to have political support and to strengthen and not undermine regional security,” O’Connell said.

He said the UK has intentionally not commented a great deal on the dialogue in order to give the parties space to develop ideas and propose them to the public to see if there is support or not. “Unfortunately, I see that the lack of transparency shows there is no support for some of the ideas that have been mentioned. We are concerned that the idea of border changes has been mentioned continuously. This is a mindset of the past that countries need to be more or less ethnically pure. This cannot be in line with the approach we’ve had so far and can be destabilizing,” O’Connell said adding that majority of the people do not support the border changes idea.
