Co-head of the Kosovo State Delegation for talks with Serbia, Fatmir Limaj, said at the Assembly of Kosovo while presenting the platform for dialogue with Serbia that the document specifies that status and sovereignty of Kosovo are nonnegotiable. “The topics that cannot be negotiated, that are inviolable and irreversible for the Republic of Kosovo include the status of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state based on the declaration of independence of 17 February 2008 and the [ICJ] ruling of 2010,” Limaj said. In addition, Limaj said the Constitution of Kosovo which includes obligations stemming from the Ahtisaari status package, Kosovo assets and natural resources and the unitary character of Kosovo are also not up for negotiations.

Limaj said the objective of the agreement with Serbia is resolving all open issues enabling mutual recognition and paving way for Kosovo to join UN and EU.

“We go to Brussels not to negotiate our state but to affirm and strengthen it. We go to Brussels to give peace in the region a chance. We go to Brussels to find ways to build cooperation of the region and we go to Brussels to give the two countries a possibility to move forward towards European integrations,” Limaj said.
