Opposition fails to put Resolution to voting due to lack of quorum

(KTV)

For about three hours, some of the Kosovo lawmakers argued over the money that was spent on behalf of the celebration of 11th anniversary of Kosovo’s statehood.

The opposition MPs think that lack of quorum at the session was an indication that the Government is not interested to speak up about the public money abuse.

MPs raised doubts concerning mismatch of the contract that was signed by the Government with Dizarium Company, and according to them, this shows that someone has committed fraud and has stolen money.

Governing parties, on the other hand, said that the discussion on public money was useless.

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj gave a different explanation regarding the half million euro allocated for the Independence holiday.

According to Haradinaj, only 175,000 euro of the allocated money has been spent, and the rest will be returned to the budget.

Minister of Finance Bedri Hamza said that there is no macroeconomic crisis, adding that the Haradinaj Government is not the only one that took money from the state reserve.

The Resolution proposed by LDK was not put to voting, due to the lack of quorum.

The Resolution consists only of two items: to stop allocation of money from state reserve without criteria, and the Government shall be obliged to within a short period of time report about the money spent on 11th anniversary of Independence and 551st anniversary of Scanderbeg’s death.

Kosovo Platform makes Serbia angry

(KTV)

Harsh reactions of Serbian authorities, including insulting language, to adoption of the Dialogue Platform by the Kosovo Assembly, does not represent any surprising discourse. This is what Albanian and Serb political experts believe.

Serbian authorities said that the Kosovo Platform for Dialogue is bad and terrible, considering it a provocation and obstacle for development of the dialogue in the future.

On Tuesday, the Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj expressed his surprise by the reactions in Serbia with regard to the Kosovo Platform for Dialogue. He said he could not understand why such reactions are made, given that it is Kosovo’s, not Serbia’s Platform.

Political analyst Artan Murati of the Kosovo Democratic Institute told Radio Free Europe that in the internal discussions in Kosovo there are opinions that the Dialogue Platform has shortcomings, but since it is Kosovo’s state Platform for Dialogue, Serbian authorities have stated that it is unacceptable.

Randjel Nojkic, a Serb political analyst, says that Kosovo’s Dialogue Platform, to a great extent is a result of the discourse of the Serbian authorities that have conveyed the message on the possibility of setting borders between Albanians and Serbs, as a solution of the problem.

According to him, having in mind stances of the Government and the opposition in Kosovo that are against this idea, Serbian authorities should have not been surprised by the Dialogue Platform, which has been adopted by the Kosovo Assembly.

Isufi: Tariff against Serbia will not be suspended

(RTK)

AAK caucus leader Ahmet Isufi said that the tariff against Serbia will not be suspended.

He spoke on Tuesday on RTK3 “Analizë dite” show.

“There will be no tariff suspension because the tariff is imposed against Serbia. Serbia with Kosovo citizens’ pocket money is campaigning against Kosovo. Any state would do this. And, this should not be related to other issues. The pressure should be put on Serbia,” Isufi said.

Discussing other topics, he said the opposition is manipulating the public with accusations for the Government. “The aim of today’s session was to spread propaganda,” he said.

 Rasic: Belgrade manipulating Kosovo Serbs

(GazetaExpress)

Nenad Rasic, President of the Serb Progressive Democratic Party, said Belgrade is manipulating Serbs in Kosovo and political entity of Srpska List has been created by Belgrade to manipulate Kosovo Serbs.

“Belgrade has manipulated and is manipulating Serbs in Kosovo. Since the Srpska List’s establishment it was obvious that this would happen. At the beginning I was sceptical that this political entity would have so much power and will go to the extreme. Pristina, also at the beginning has helped technically in establishing this party. Also the EU and internationals helped in this process,” Rasic said in an interview with Klan Kosova TV.

Tahiri: Corruption and crime is destroying our state

(KTV)

Minister of Justice Abelard Tahiri admitted that there is endemic corruption in the state institutions, and expressed his concern that corruption and crime is not being punished.

Tahiri said on RTK’s “Imazh” show that the institutions have provided sufficient resources to judges and prosecutors, and now it is up to them to  be more efficient in doing justice and punishing corruption.

He added that the cases when various officials are not punished might serve as incentives to those who want to get involved in crime and corruption.

Tahiri called on judges and prosecutors not to fall prey to politics and to various criminal groups, but to work with commitment and professionalism.

“There is no doubt that there is mismanagement and corruption, that is the case in every country in the world, including our country; but every country in the world makes measurements on how much they have combatted those phenomena. Unfortunately, we failed to combat crime and corruption,” Tahiri stated.

He said that the fact that the British Ambassador quit the Commission for Verification and Selection of Meritor Persons at Public Positions was bad news, and added that in some cases Kosovo has provided a bad model.

Regarding reactions to deportation of six Turkish nationals, Tahiri stressed that some members of the Ad Hoc Commission for Investigation of this case have abused their mandate, by running political campaign against some ministers and various state officials.

He said that the Commission did not do its job as it has failed to vote the report; instead, it abused by using the case for political purposes.
