The European Parliament’s Rapporteur on Kosovo, Igor Soltes, told the news website today that hope for visa liberalization for Kosovo this year, must not be lost. Asked about the position of member states on the matter, Soltes said, “I cannot give you an answer to this question, but I certainly hope so. This question should be presented to the EU member states and their respective politicians”. He also said that the stalemate in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia does not shed good light on the visa liberalization process. “I don’t think that delays in dialogue directly affect visa liberalization. However, this does not shed positive light on the process. It is in the interest of the EU for Kosovo and Serbia to implement the Brussels agreement and to facilitate the dialogue which regrettably has been suspended for a long time,” he added.
