Around 50 interesting publications in the Serbian language have been published recently with the support of the Kosovo Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Voice of America reports.
These publications contain numerous advises to the farmers, and one of the publications is titled “Obesity of the calves for breeding.” According to the Voice of America there are even more interesting headlines, as well as letters that do not exist in the Serbian language.
“Role and significance of minerals in afforestation of calves and other categories of animals and poultry,” “Production of alfalfa – agricultural measures, role and significance of seeds of grain and green meal in seeds of nutrition in agriculture,” “Breeding birds for obesity” are some of the headlines of the publications published by the “Economic Support Group” and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development.
In some of the publications instead of letter “u” a letter “y” is used, however the latter exist neither in the Serbian alphabet nor the language.
While the Ministry with its partners recommends the Serbs in Kosovo “to do afforestation of calves and other animals with minerals, breed birds for obesity, to breed obese calves and similar,” Kosovo Language Commissioner Slavisa Mladenovic is appalled.
“Any single cent given for such a project is wasted money. This is comic, unserious, irresponsible and I simply have no other comment. This is an insult to common sense, this does not contribute to agriculture, it contributes to nothing, this is to be thrown in the landfill and nothing can be done with that. It makes me disappointed to see something like this,” Mladenovic told Voice of America.
Preparation and printing of these publications were funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, while the Ministry was headed by Nenad Rikalo, Voice of America further reports.
The news agency added it did not get responses to its query sent to the current Minister Dijana Zivic and Ministry Secretary Kaplan Halimi and related to as how much money was given for the preparation and printing of these publications, was it a mistake in translation, and if not “what does it mean – role and significance of minerals in afforestation of calves and other animals,” “breeding birds for obesity” and what will the Ministry do in regard to these publications.
Voice of America also added they did not manage to get in touch with “Economic Support Group” that prepared these publications, and it unofficially learned the seat of the group is in Gnjilane. Each publication contains between 1000 and 1500 words, Voice of America concluded.
