EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini says there are two options for leaders in the Western Balkans – to target high or to do nothing.
“If you are a political leader in a complicated country and a complicated region, you can choose to target high and achieve the best for your people and country, or to decide to wait for better times,” Mogherini said.
Federica Mogherini, after the EU Stabilization and Association Council meeting The Northern Macedonia called on all countries of the Western Balkans region to find inspiration in Athens and Skopje.
“They have chosen the courageous visionary role of the leader that has brought a historic result, I believe that this should be an inspiration for everyone,” Mogherini said.
Asked by Serbian News agency Tanjug about the EU consultations with the international community in the process of re-launching and possible finalization of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the EU High Representative said that the international community was closely monitoring developments in the region.
“There is a lot of recognition in the international community and the Security Council for the work we have done with the North Macedonia and Greece, as well as the great expectation that this will be an inspiration for the rest of the region,” Mogherini said.
