RTK2 reports that on Sunday, 20th anniversary of NATO bombardment was marked throughout Kosovo.
Representatives of the local self-governments and Serbian List paid the tribute to the victims at 12:44 with the laying of wreaths at the “Truth” Monument near the main bridge on the Ibar River in Mitrovica North.
RTK reports that the memorial religious service was also held in front of the monument to the victims of NATO bombardment in Zvecan, after which the victims’ families, representatives of the local self-government, Office for Kosovo and Metohija and representatives of the Committee for Assistance to the Serbian people from Banja Luka (Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina) laid their wreaths and lit candles.
“It’s been 20 years since the NATO aggression on a sovereign country that was not only led by air bombs, it was led by almost all political and media means. What started on that March 24, 1999, was not a bombing, because the bombing is a technical term, but it was an aggression against a sovereign country that did not deserve it at all, and that suffered terrible casualties (…). We can forgive only if we no longer exist”, President of Zvecan Interim Municipal Council Ivan Todosijevic said.
“Today, from this place, I would like to tell everyone that the struggle for Serbia and the Serbian people is still ongoing, almost twenty years after the end of the war, and that we must try and fight as they fought, by giving it our all, so to them I say-eternal glory and thank you,” Mayor of Zvecan Vucina Jankovic said.
Radio KIM reported that a memorial service was held at the monument to those killed in the center of Gracanica. Mayor of Gracanica municipality Srdjan Popovic said the Serbian people believe in survival, trying to endure grave consequences of everything that have happened to them.
The memorial service was also held at the monument to the killed and kidnapped persons from 1998 to 2002 in Ranilug. Secretary of IMC of Kamenica, Milos Nikolic, Deputy Mayor of Ranilug Davor Petkovic and members of families of killed and kidnapped persons paid the tribute and lit the candles.
