Bargaining starts now, nothing said during campaign remains valid (Koha Ditore)
Those tired of elections, will get even more tired by calculating who could make a coalition with whom and to what price. Different from election campaign, where Kosovo politicians usually make promises that they do not intend to keep, now during the bargaining for power, is the momentum for them to prove if they have principles or not. From today, everything that was said during the campaign is not valid. Therefore, despite the final results and relative winner (because there is no absolute winner in these elections,) every option for creation of the new government remains open.
However, Palokaj considers that Kosovo has made a positive turn compare to 2010 elections. “Kosovo avoided its drowning in a circle of contested elections, full of irregularities. “If some kind of surprise does not happen at the very last moment, the regular election process will be confirmed also by the mission of the European Union.
Palokaj considers that the real challenge after these elections remains inclusion of Serb representatives in the future government. “Furthermore, this is necessary and it would have been almost impossible to have a government without Kosovo Serbs. However, different from the other elections, Serb representatives will also be representatives of Serbia and the future leader of Kosovo Government will not be able to reach an agreement with them without the consent of Belgrade,” says Palokaj.
