Trajkovic: Without ZSO there will be no life for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija (Blic)
At the roundtable "Association/Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO) and experiences of municipalities in the South", organized in Kosovska Mitrovica by the Centre for Community Development, Rada Trajkovic, president of NGO European Movement of Serbs, said that she expects the support of Belgrade, Kosovo Albanians and the international community, in regards to the formation of ZSO.
"Without Association / Community of Serbian municipalities, there will be no life for us in this area; that is the main point. Belgrade, the international community and Kosovo Albanians owe to the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija chance for the survival in this region and in this context I expect they will support us," she added.
In regards the powers of the ZSO, Trajkovic believes they should include spatial planning, health, education and social issues. "What concerns us the most is the fact that municipalities have no institutional mechanisms to control areas or territories in which they are located. That is the reason why spatial planning is very important for us; because the ownership and ethnic structure changes through the process of privatization. Usually the property and ethnic structures are in favour of Albanians, to the detriment of us, and that represents a new way of emigration of Serbs from this area," said Trajkovic.
