Jablanovic: I will not hire a lawyer (NMagazin, Politika, TV Most)
Former Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government and President of the Serbian List, Aleksandar Jablanovic has not decided whether he will appear on May 22 as a defendant in the Municipal Court in Gjakova/Djakovica.
He is accused of instigating national, racial and religious hatred, restlessness and intolerance, on the occasion of stoning of the bus which was carrying displaced Serbs, when he called the Albanians "savages". The penalty for the offense with which he is charged is punishable from one to eight years in prison.
In a short interview for the Belgrade daily Politika, Jablanovic said he received a call on Tuesday, but he sees no reason to appear to the hearing.
He said that the case was fabricated in order to inflict damage to Serbs who were involved in political activities in Kosovo and to him, as the leader of the Serbian list. In his opinion, Prosecution in Gjakova/Djakovica has not justified its existence, because so far none of those who killed Serbs, burned Serbian houses, churches and monasteries were found behind bars.
He added that he will meet with representatives of the European Union in Kosovo to present issues concerning not only him but also the entire Serbian community and that the prosecution blamed someone for a word, that was interpreted in a manner that correspond to Albanian politicians.
Asked whether he hired a lawyer, Jablanovic said that he did not because he does not feel guilty.
