U.S. ambassador welcomes the agreement on judiciary (Lajmi)

The United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Ann Jacobson, congratulated the Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Serbia, Isa Mustafa and Aleksandar Vucic, for the agreement on integration of the judiciary that was signed last night. “Congrats to Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Serbia for accord on integration of justice. Look forward to full implementation of agreements,” wrote Jacobson on her Twitter account.

Agreement on judiciary reached in Brussels (Dailies)

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa last night in Brussels signed an agreement on the judiciary.

"This agreement ensures the participation of Serb judges in the north of Kosovo," Vucic said after the meeting. The Serbian government said on its website that the agreement was initialed.

The trilateral meeting of EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini with delegations from Belgrade and Pristina was completed shortly after two o'clock in the morning.

EU confirms 9 February talks (Koha)

European Union has confirmed that high-level dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade will resume on 9 February. A press release issued by the EU states that the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini will facilitate the meeting between Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa in Brussels. It also said: "This is the first high level meeting since after the appointment of the new government in Belgrade and the formation of the new government in Pristina.

Kosovo-Serbia talks to resume in February (European Voice)

The implementation of past agreements remains a major issue ahead of a new phase in EU-brokered talks. Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign-policy chief, has called for a resumption of talks to normalise relations between Kosovo and Serbia on 9 February, following a six-month hiatus caused by the protracted formation of a Kosovar government.
Though bilateral in nature, the talks have enabled both countries to drive ahead towards membership of the EU, despite Serbia’s continued refusal to recognise Kosovo as a state.

Kosovo’s Thaci: EU’s Mogherini Needed for Serbia Talks to Succeed (WSJ)

Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign-policy chief, must stay directly involved in talks between Kosovo and Serbia if the dialogue is to succeed, Hashim Thaci, the country’s foreign minister, said Thursday.

To lock in the reconciliation between the two former foes, Kosovo and Serbia should also start work on a second agreement in the new year, Mr. Thaci said in a sit-down with The Wall Street Journal in Brussels. Mr. Thaci, who was Kosovo’s prime minister for seven years until earlier this month, is still widely considered the country’s most powerful politician.

The European Union is seeking to advance two key initiatives in the Balkans in the next couple of months, senior officials said Monday.

EU enlargement chief Johannes Hahn said he now hopes for a political breakthrough in Bosnia by early February, which could reopen the country’s path toward eventual EU membership. Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said she is working to relaunch reconciliation talks in January between Serbia and Kosovo at prime ministerial level.
