Apostolova: Initiative to abolish special court, dangerous and unprecedented (Kallxo/Zeri)
Kallxo reports that European Union considers the initiative for repealing the specialist chambers to be “dangerous” while the head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova, said such a move would undermine Kosovo’s credibility. “Abrogation of Law on Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecution Office would be a dangerous move undermining rule of law and credibility of Kosovo as EU partner. I call on political leaders to put national interest first and work for the common good and further European integration,” Apostolova wrote in a Twitter post. At the same time, in a response to Zeri newspaper, Apostolova stressed that Kosovo has worked hard in the recent years and made a lot of progress on the domestic and international front. “We have been looking with optimism at Kosovo-EU relations, reporting constantly at the highest EU levels that Kosovo has a clear European future. One of the fundamental principles of the EU is the rule of law. The establishment of the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecution Office is an international obligation. The initiative to abrogate the Law on Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecution Office was an unprecedented and very dangerous move,” Apostolova said.
