EU commissioner optimistic on visa liberalization for Kosovo (Lajmi)
The European Union Commissioner for Migration, Internal Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, said on Tuesday that very soon there will be some good news regarding visa liberalization for Kosovo. “Only with real results in fighting high-level corruption, and prevention of irregular migration, the EU will help the citizens of Kosovo, to travel without visas,” he said. During a press conference after meeting with Internal Affairs Minister Skender Hyseni and European Integration Minister Bekim Collaku, Avramopoulos expressed his satisfaction that the number of irregular migrants from Kosovo is declining. He said that Kosovo government should commit to rule of law and economic development, thus creating new jobs for its people. Avramopoulos also met with Kosovo’s President Atifete Jahjaga and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa.
