Cameras in the north for security and survival of Serbs (RTK2)

Civil Protection (CP) for northern Kosovo confirmed that security cameras have been placed in that region, and added that cameras are of utmost importance for the security and survival of Serbs. In a communiqué forwarded to TV Most CP said that cameras are operational and that monitoring is carried out through an Observation Center.

“We regret that security of Serbs in Kosovo and Meotohija is jeopardized by writing of certain media on cameras, particularly due to the fact that entire procedure has received a political dimension, despite the fact that everything has been labeled as confidential,” reads the handout.

Belgrade-based daily Kurir published recently that Minister for Labor and Social Welfare, former director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Aleksandar Vulin, has purchased security cameras valued around EUR 1 million during his tenure in the office, without following public procurement procedure. Daily also expressed doubts whether cameras are in place and whether they are operational at all.
