Serbs from northern Kosovo should create chamber of commerce and development bank (KoSSev)
Citizens in northern Kosovo should engage actively in monitoring the implementation of the Brussels Agreement on the field, and manage and monitor Fond for the North, said analyst Dusan Janjic at a debate about collection of customs revenues provided by the Brussels Agreement and its so far implementation on the field.
The purpose of the Fond for the North should be to help the region (northern Kosovo) to prepare for competition with others, said Janjic and stressed importance of good organization of Serbs from the North when it comes to management and control of funds collected for the Fond for the North, and creation of the authentic development bank in the north. “It is legitimate that Serbs from the north request creation of a development bank,” Janjic said.
“My message to Serbs from Kosovo is not to wait, since there is nothing to wait about, and they’ve been waiting for too long. Serbs must organize themselves in line with standards,” said Janjic and added that Serbs should, by all means, establish a chamber of commerce, that is, association of entrepreneurs.
Citizens who participated in the debate, on the other hand, expressed dissatisfaction with the existing [Brussels] agreement, and stressed that there is a general ambiguity when it comes to the Brussels Agreement. They also said that the manner of its implementation and interpretation on the ground, with regard to customs, is chaotic and detrimental for entrepreneurs and citizens. They went on to say that the will of people from northern Kosovo was not taken into account with the Brussels Agreement.
