Five EU countries are resisting (Vecernje Novosti)
Five EU members that have not recognized Kosovo's independence are under pressure to change their position. Most recently the pressure has been from PACE resolution that has called upon the five member states to recognize Kosovo. As Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said to Novosti, one of the Serbian priorities is that Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Cyprus retain their current positions.
“These states are exposed to such pressure, particularly Greece and Romania. I will be meeting with colleagues from Athens and Bucharest at a Process of Cooperation in Southeast Europe meeting which is to be be held in Sofia. It will be a chance to once more request support for the Brussels dialogue, which is the only way relations between Belgrade and Pristina can be normalized. Events, characterized by the violence, that have occurred in Pristina over the past months, prove that dialogue is the only way.”
Serbia can, with certainty, count on the fact, that Cyprus, Slovakia and Spain shall remain firmly in the position of non- recognition of Kosovo.
