“Our journalists objective and professional” RTK2 response to Srpska Lista statement (Kontakt plus radio)
“The RTK2 journalists always carry out their work in a professional and impartial manner, in line with regulations in force. We are paying particular attention before and during the election campaign,” reads the RTK2 management statement sent to the Kontakt plus radio.
The statement came as a response to the Srpska Lista, which said yesterday RTK2 journalists were unprofessional while reporting on the protest in the Vrbovac village.
“This can be proved by recently published reports of the Independent Media Commission and the European Union Office on the coverage of the extraordinary elections in Kosovo, which assessed the RTK2 reporting as objective and impartial.
The event we followed was very important as there were reports people were allegedly fired due to political reasons, so our professional duty was to send the TV crew to the spot.
Regarding reporting on the protest in Vrbovac, our crew never before, and also in this case did not suggest to the interlocutor what to say.
We emphasise that the TV story about the protest, which was aired on our informative programme, is fully neutral and objective, and respects the right of two sides.
We consider, this is one form of pressure against media in the eve of the local election campaign in Kosovo.
At the same time, we call upon all political subjects to stop pressure against public service, let us carry out our work in line with professional and ethical standards, as well as regulations related to this area,” RTK2 management statement concluded.
