Basketball players banned to enter Kosovo, Djuric, Srpska Lista react (RTS, Tanjug, RTS, B92)

Young basketball players of Sloga team from Kraljevo were banned to enter Kosovo and Metohija at Jarinje crossing point, Tanjug news agency reported.

Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric reacting to the ban said, “there is no justification for such Pristina’s attack on the freedom of movement, which is now prohibiting young people to play sport and travel freely.”

Srpska Lista also reacted saying “the ban is the latest display of arrogance by Pristina authorities.” Srpska Lista noted that “sports events were not banned even during the conflicts, and hostilities were interrupted during their performances.”

Srpska Lista urged the international community to concretely react on violation of all agreements and “endless Pristina’s madness”.

Meanwhile Sloga coach Vladimir Dasic told RTS on Sunday that the prohibition of entry to Kosovo for Sloga’s young basketball players was his biggest professional defeat.

President of Sloga basketball club, Uros Matic, said that pioneers (age division) were supposed to play the game with Trepca. “This is the first time that Sloga team was banned from entering Kosovo. But this year, at least what we heard, not only the basketball, but also football and volleyball teams were also prohibited from entering,” Matic said.

According to him, since he’s also the President of Association organizing this competition, they did not have a single case that a team was returned from the administrative crossing point.
