Dacic says visas not required for 71 countries (BETA, N1)
Serbian citizens do not need visas to travel to 71 countries and holders of diplomatic passports can travel visa-free to 93 countries Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic told the Serbian Parliament on Wednesday, BETA news agency reports.
Dacic was presenting to the Parliament proposal to abolish visas for nationals of number of other countries. He said the visa-free regime was in place for Serbian citizens travelling to all European Union countries except Great Britain and Ireland as well as Russia, China, Brazil, the Ukraine among others.
“Our policy is to be open to the world and we need to have visa-free regimes with as many countries as possible to allow the movement of people, goods and services and to develop political relations and promote overall cooperation,” Dacic underlined, adding that the Serbian passport ranked 28th globally in terms of the number of countries which do not require visas.
He recalled frequent criticism from Brussels on abolishment of Serbian visa requirements for certain countries and rejected claims that visas are being abolished for some countries in order to convince them to revoke recognitions of Kosovo.
