In meeting the challenges of today, we need a multilateral world with strong multilateral institutions, as well as universal respect for international law, said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who addressed the opening of the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) via video link, Belgrade based news agency Tanjug reported.
“In this way, we will build a prosperous and sustainable world where no one will be left out. I count on your continued support,” Guterres said. He welcomed MPs’ focus on international law, universal health coverage, climate change emergencies and sustainable development goals.
“As a former MP, I know that your input from citizens’ representatives is essential for faster joint progress,” Guterres said last night.
