The parliaments’ speakers of Serbia and Ghana said on Monday that the West African country would reconsider the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state.

After meeting his Serbia’s counterpart Maja Gojkovic in Belgrade, Aaron Mike Oquaye said he would suggest to Ghana’s president and the country’s foreign minister to reconsider the decision on Kosovo’s status.

Gojkovic said that the two countries have had traditionally good and friendly relations, and that they would mark 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2019, adding that Oquaye’s visit was the first by a high Ghana’s representative to Belgrade in the last six decades.

She said the agenda of her meeting with Oquaye included the status of Kosovo and the state of Serbia’s heritage there which.

Oquaye said he advocated an improvement of the relations between Ghana and Serbia in the areas the two countries cooperated during the Non-Alignment Movement, adding the road to collaboration in other fields, like defence and agriculture, should be built.

He asked Serbia to help his country to improve in many areas, including the political strengthening of women.
