The project “New Mitrovica,” designed by the Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, has caused a lot of reactions in northern Kosovo these days, Radio kontkat plus reported. NGO Aktiv Programme Director Miodrag Marinkovic opined that the plan looks like a very aggressive political marketing.
“The plan we were able to see in the media, primarily looks like a very aggressive political marketing and follows some patterns that we could see in other parts of Kosovo, where some investments in mixed zones change the ethnic structure of these zones for the benefit of the Albanians, and in that sense I see there is a danger of having the same thing happening in the north,” Marinkovic said.
He added that such a plan “encroaches on the competences of Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo” and that it is not acceptable as such, because it will “lead to ethnic tensions in the north of Kosovo,” Radio kontakt plus reported.
