Election campaign for 31 political entities has officially started today and will last for ten days.

However, political parties have begun campaigning a while ago with the main focus being economic development and creation of new jobs.

The voter lists have recently been cleaned up and 101,000 names have been deleted. Out of these, 77,100 are deceased and 24,000 have renounced their Kosovo citizenship.

At the same time, the Central Election Commission has decided to ban use of posters of candidates and political parties during this election process in order to prevent problems between parties regarding the available space for putting up posters and to contribute to protection of environment.

The Kosovo prosecution and the police have pledged to be ready to protect the right to a free vote on 8 June and warned that they will undertake measures against anyone who tries to manipulate the voting process.

Upcoming elections will also be monitored by European Union observers as well as local NGOs.
