President Jahjaga was received at the US Congress (RTKlive)
The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, was received today at the Congress of the United States of America in Washington. She met at the Capitol Hill senior members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress, headed by Congressman Ed Royce and the senior member of the Committee, Congressman Eliot Engel.
President Jahjaga thanked the US Congressmen for the continuous support that the United States Congress has given to Kosovo. She stressed that Kosovo is free and independent because of the aid and support of the US Congress.
President Jahjaga informed the Congressmen about the internal reforms, the consolidation of Kosovo’s democracy and the strengthening of sovereignty. The President stressed the importance of continuing reforms to attract foreign investors, reforms these which should be associated with an unprecedented war against corruption.
Jahjaga also informed the Congressmen with the flow of the dialogue for the normalization of relations between the Pristina and Belgrade and the reaching of the latest agreement. She stressed the importance of the continuation of the US support for the dialogue and the implementation of the reached agreements in the dialogue.
She also requested the continuation of the US support in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. The President stressed that Kosovo has made important steps in this fight becoming an example in the region.
The congressmen thanked President Jahjaga for the visit and said that Kosovo is already a success story. They reiterated the full support of the United States for its Euro-Atlantic aspirations, the implementation of democratic reforms and the economic development.
